Ordered cod and mushy peas. The cod was juicy and flavoured just right. I like the thinner-than-average batter as it doesn't steal the spotlight from the flesh and is way less greasy. Mushy peas were fresh, hot and fragrant. Also had a nice mixture of whole peas and mashed ones that contributed to a varied texture. On top of all that some salad greens were offered for free, great for cleansing your palate. The staff was friendly and swift. The whole restaurant was clean and had the type of vintage decor you'd expect from this type of shop.

Always used to get my fish and chips at Kingfisher as it was so tasty but the owner was miserable and the choice became Cod or nothing. New owners now and the quality has amazingly improved plus you get a choice of fish. We love Rock and it’s one of the few places you can get it. Cooked to order the batter is thin and fried to perfection. The fish is so fresh it’s mouth watering. I bought elsewhere recently when they were closed and the difference was instantly obvious. The chips are perfection and the portions very generous. If you can’t eat them all you can reheat and they still stay tasty even the following day not tasting like soggy cardboard. Prices are cheaper than all their competitors. The new owner’s are friendly genuine people who truly care about your experience. I phone in advance to make sure they have what I want and they have it ready for me when I arrive. This is basic British food done brilliantly. Can’t recommend enough. Long live fish and chips and long live Kingfisher. 😋🤗🥰

We've lived in the area for 2 years and always thought about coming, this place is great! They even seem now to do card payments with minimum spend £5. The fish and chips might've been some of the best I've had and the staff were really friendly and helpful, really nice atmosphere!

I’m a regular customer at Kingfisher and in my opinion the fish and chips are excellent. The fish is always fresh and tasty and the chips are perfect. The portions are also very generous. There is always a very friendly welcoming atmosphere and I strongly recommend this restaurant if you like traditional fish and chips.

Absolutely DELISH! I’ve been to a lot of Fish & Chip shops but I can honestly say that this one is now my number 1! The staff are friendly and genuine and the food is FRESH! The COD is to die for not forgetting the mouth watering CHICKEN!!! The chicken was AMAZINGGG! My children are usually picky eaters but they LOVED the food and the lovely staff.
